That, he was aware of. Eventually, the Scions of the Seventh Dawn would be destroyed, unless this group moves forward. And to do that, he needed them all to trust him - or, at least, the younger him. (Not that he would burden that man with more knowledge then he had to. Keep hope in his heart, and make sure him and his wife could live happily. Perhaps it would influence his own life, times long gone.)

And that's why he was with Thanaire, having appeared out of nowhere. A little glad she wasn't with somebody else, to manipulate and break them. ]
