[K'pandolu likes boats- she grew up with traders coming every so often, and her family certainly fished enough for her to be familiar with the waters.
She's seated out on the deck, carefully out of the way, when she becomes aware of someone else. She doesn't bother with much more than turning enough to catch a glimpse out of the corner of her eye, not too worried about whoever it is, one ear flicking.]
If we cast a line out here, do you think we'd catch anything interesting?
Well, I've never been one for fishing... but we are quite far from land, are we not? [ So... that means that fish who are scared from people would come out here? Right? He's going to move closer to K'pandolu, though, sitting nearby. On the ground, of course. ]
[If there was one thing Aymeric was getting better at was being able to sneak out of the Dusk Vigil without notice. He really has to thank Borelisblade somehow for the secret passages but he just hopes he can get back there before the owner gets back. Dressed in simple adventuring garb, Aymeric found himself getting on a decent sized boat and for once since finding himself in this world, being able to breathe without having to worry about what has changed.
But for now, he's content with taking in the sea air as he leans against the rail and watches the horizon. And no, he hasn't realized that someone else is on this boat ride as well.]
[ Alas, it seems that the one person you didn't want here... is here. Haurchefant smells him, quite honestly. What a bother. He knew that if they were together, well. His heretic friend would probably become quite grumpy.
So, he approaches from behind, his fanged dragon-esque grin covering his face. ] And how did you get here, friend?
[Normally he'd be there to greet his friend warmly but this version...something seemed 'off' about him. Aymeric couldn't let the pit in his stomach grow when he hears him speak up, his mind ringing warning bells at the mention of 'friend'. Something dangerous and he must take precautions lest he do something much worse.]
The front door was open.
[Then he turns to face Haurchefant, looking just as pleasant but feeling like the ship may swallow him whole. Just his luck huh.]
[ Aww, don't be like that. He's just a dear guardian and knight. He's fine. He's always fine. Tilting his head, though, he laughs. ]
And here I thought I'd forgotten something.
[ Don't worry. He's not going to hurt you. Instead, he places his hands on his dear Aymeric - placing them on his shoulders. ]
You should get back - but the boat won't be back there for some time, shall it? As long as you do return, though - this land is dangerous, not just Ishgard.
[Truly, he just doesn't want the little dragon to get blamed for his deeds. So telling a white lie seems to be the best for them and it works.]
I have no intention on going back on my word; on both matters.
[Just as he said on his first day in this world when the dragon was healing him up, he would help him get rid of Ixion by fighting alongside him and stay with him until the deed was done.]
[ Either it works, or Haurchefant is good at masking his emotions.
Haurchefant was never good at masking his emotions. This was one of the most known things of this dear knight. He gives a smile, though - before looking out to the sea. ]
You just desired to see more?
[ It might be nice to let him out. But not take his eyes off him. This world was one of darkness and crazy. He needed to protect him from getting cursed by Ramza or Miscarlet or anybody. ]
True! And there have been tales of stranger fish being caught on the seas, lately…
[One ear twists back, as she considers her companion. He looks so familiar- but no. How could that be…?]
Ah, but then there's the matter of bait… I don't suppose you have any on you? [he said he wasn't much for fishing, so probably not. But anything to keep her stomach from feeling like it's falling in.]
What sort of bait would fish use? I've got some spare meat - my dear brother tried cooking again recently. [ and emm is not a good cook yet. It's edible, but not the best for Spoken. He himself really is clueless about fish, though - and simply starts to ruffle though his bags, quietly smiling to himself.
And if he is to be recognized, he seems oblivious. Mostly because he's gotten used to the stares - but used to people passing him off as another. Mostly for the white eyes. ]
[He nods. Besides, he never was going to leave for good until Ixion was gone. Aymeric had always planned on coming back to the fortress but being stuck there just made him feel more like a prisoner. He's a soldier after all.]
Aye, I do. I know you worry since this world is not like mine own but we both know it isn't good to just do nothing while your friend does all the work.
Well - I was going to ask him for more of his poisons. You know, to see if they could distract the Ward. If they could destroy House Haillenarte, they could at least put them to sleep for a while.
[ He says, as if this is casual. A pause, before: ]
Have you ever considered drinking Dragons' Blood? It can be reversed.
[Oh, so it would be for weapons. That...actually sounds like a good idea. Obviously this person would know more about the weaknesses of the Ward members. But then he has to go and mention drinking dragon's blood.]
I'm sorry but...did you just suggest I drink dragon's blood?
[ His eyes narrow, and he lets out a huff. His expression has shifted - though he still has that dark look in his eyes. I'd say run, but... the boat isn't the best place to hide in. ] If I did not lock you up, you'd probably be tempered or dead by now. Perhaps both?
[ He speaks so matter of factly - he really doesn't trust this man, even though he's his dearest of friends. His voice is shakey as he speaks though. ]
Even if you did not rush - there is more danger then you'd expect, friend. All your defense and planning would be for nothing, if I cannot prepare you. [ If he can't prevent it - just keep him safe and away and not let him see combat, except if he knows he can win. Perhaps he'll finally find his peace though this. ] So why not indulge?
[He wasn't going to run, rather preferring to stand his ground even if it may cost him his life. But hearing him speak and he understands the worry behind it. What could he do compared to a dragon?]
But are you preparing me?
[He's quiet but his gaze does not waver, does not stop staring straight into his eyes.]
How is keeping me away 'preparing' to go up against a strong enemy? How is locking me away like in stories helping you? Not one person can do this alone and it is the same with a dragon. We can both be stubborn when it comes to helping others so instead of quarreling like children, why not help each other? All I ask is for you to let me in.
[ His voice wavers but a little. Of course he's preparing him. Though he looks away, putting his hand to the sword he carries. The non-Borelisblade one. ] You are a man who rushes without thinking. Who get injured and expects it to go your way. A new scar for every stupid attempt of being a hero. [ Is he talking about this one, or...? He's holding back his true anger, though. The anger he never shows. ] I give you full access to my children, and my training areas - and anything you may need. You simply cannot leave the Vigil. It's much better then any prison Ishgard would give. Once you are strong enough, I'd let you free. But now... [ A pause. ] Every time you flee, it's quite hard to stop myself from just tying you up and helping you!
It's been a while since I've been able to go to a chirugeon! And I doubt they'd... well, that's a long story. [ He says, with a bit of a chuckle. But he tilts his head. No, he isn't hiding who he is. ] No - Artoriel doesn't take well to nicknames. I used to call him Tori as a child, but... well, it never stuck!
[Look who's talking. Aymeric isn't the only one who tries to be a hero after all but the way he makes it sound, he can't help but get a chill down his spine. He practically compared the Vigil to a prison for him AND admitted that he would tie him up to stop him from leaving.
What exactly happened to make his kind soul act in such a way? Did he go through much harsher moments after his death? And why did Aymeric want more than anything at that moment...to run away? But his body betrays him as he moves toward Haurchefant.]
Tell me, even if I got strong enough to your desired effect would you truly keep your word?
[He just has that feeling that he knows the answer already.]
