post-victory road

[ Haurchefant had vanished from Johto, as he had seen the glory of Ho-Oh and Lugia - his Ampharos out by his side. For the day he awoke back in Eorzea, he awoke by his grave - cuddling that same Pokemon. For a moment, he had looked up to the grave, and he had realised it was his.

Was he home? Was he visible? The cold made it feel as if he was, but the large pink sheep made him feel as if he wasn't. For the last few hours, he had remained snuggled up to the oddly warm pink sheep, even if he had heard his Estinien growling at... somebody he didn't look up at. (It had been Francel, staring horrified and also amazed - Haurchefant...?) Francel, for his part, had backed away from the defensive Pokemon - instead moving to use his Linkpearl to call anybody he could. If he could reach anybody who knew anything, then he would.

And that happened to - though a few others - reach Naltryd. Not that Haurchefant knew, soft sobs leaving his body by the time she'd arrive. The cold was getting to him a little, but he didn't want to let go of his Pokemon, else they might vanish. A small bag near to him held the rest of his Pokeballs - even those from the PC system - but all he needed was Estinien at this time. ]

[It had been the longest dream she had ever woken from. That's what Naltryd had thought, at least, upon opening her eyes to find herself back in Eorzea as if nothing had ever happened. No strange land, no stranger creatures, and no...

She'd allowed herself a minute to cry. Just a minute, nothing more. Just enough to calm herself down so that she could put on the brave mask she always did as the Warrior of Light. Barely a day on the road again had passed, however, when she received the news that sent her rushing to Providence Point as fast as she was physically able.

Her footsteps crunch in the snow as she makes her way towards the gravesite. Standing near is a very confused Francel, tear tracks staining his face. She can't blame him. Not when she sees Haurchefant curled up over where he ought to have been buried.

She drops to her knees in front of him, baffled at the creature she'd remembered from her dream, but even more so...]

H....Haurchefant...?

...Eorzea. This is Eorzea.

[Then why is a pokémon here? But to hells with that--she can deal with wondering about that later. A shaky hand reaches out to cup Haurchefant's face. It's cold, but not with death. It's only the snow.]

No. You're not.

[A deep breath, and he looks up at Francel.]

Get his chambers ready. [Never mind that they're Emmanellain's now.] He needs warmth and food. I will carry him. Take that pack there as well, would you?

[Naltryd gets up, but not before hoisting Haurchefant up in his arms, armor and pokémon and all.]
