Ishgard was no place for dragons - not in this timeline, at least. This holy place, less so. But there one was, sitting in the arena of the Vault. He had managed to stumble back there, to where just moments ago he had slayed Ser Charibert... well, not slain. He couldn't kill him - any of them - even though he knew what was coming to his alter. The one who him and Z'ipipa Kota had gotten to know as they traveled this world, seeing if it could help lure out either of those who fight this war.
He hadn't done the right thing. His gentle cries were to his gentle wife - by Halone, she couldn't have helped either. He shouldn't have brought her here - none could help. He had noticed, as well, a few Owlet hovering around. Watching. Were they here to mock the fact he thought he could try?
"Dearest Kota..."
He mumbled, his head on the ground.

((god fuck i need to make more icons))
It was less spoken and more screamed. Z'ipipa sprinted toward him, her eyes brimming with tears, and embraced him -- or as much of him as she could, at any rate.
"I'm so sorry -- I tried so hard, there was nothing I could do, I...I tried so hard, I didn't want this to happen again..." She buried her face in his scales, crying hard. "I -- it's going to be okay...we'll be okay, won't we?"

"Hah... to think I wished to desired to save him..."
To think he wanted to change fate. "...B-but. We still live..."

She almost glimpsed over her shoulder, but turned back to Haurchefant at the last minute, shaken. "I just...it's so hard knowing it's you...even if it's not, it is, and it's...I didn't want to fail you. I love you."

"...Who... am I?"
He finally said, whole body suddenly shuddering in tiredness.

Z'ipipa took a deep breath and gave Hauchefant a gentle squeeze before continuing in order to hold back tears.
"You're still...you're still Haurchefant. You're still my husband."

"Haurchefant is no Dravanian."
