nero and k'pan, few days after TFLN
And when Nero was frustrated, it was not a pretty sight. However, this sight was... odd. He was on a farm. Working part-time - but why? He needed to get more food, honestly, and this was the easiest way. And he could work though how much he rambled about to that damned Hero.
But his hands were still spasming. Breaking down. He'd gotten into a fight the next day, and he had also a need for Gil. And materials. At this rate, he'd have a week until they fully failed. If he could make rudementry hands - but this was his first time doing this outside of Garlemald. Hm. Perhaps he'd need to get back in contact with one of those others.
But for now, he was helping harvest carrots. For Chocobo, he'd heard. Who spoiled their birds like this? ]
no subject
It's her bird- Typhon- who pokes his beak over the fence first, letting out a curious trill- K'pandolu's off asking around first, although that's likely to get her attention soon enough.]
no subject
Get. I'm not afraid to shoot intruders.
[ He knew, of course, the bird wouldn't understand. But hopefully, it'd be distracted by him tossing a carrot over the fence. ]
no subject
It's been a long ride, but you couldn't hold off a little longer?
[she rubs her hand along his neck anyway, and glances over to apolgoise- but then blinks and grins, ears coming forward.]
Nero! This is unexpected. You're managing well enough, I hope?
no subject
...Shit. Just one of the people he didn't want to see. (That was, of course, a lot of people.) But he'd poured his heart out to her. A bit before his hands started to mess up, in fact.
Nero gives a small grunt. ] What are you doing here, hero?
no subject
Looking around! Wondering how you were doing, by chance- what fortune to actually find you here!

gimme dat squire
aka lemme go wiki diving either tomorrow or this weekend and let's figure something out because this sounds fun as heck. ]
C'MERE SUNSHINE BABY
All save one precious soul, it would seem.
Sighing softly, the young Queen turned her gaze to the boy sprawled out across the bed she shared with her husband, lethargic and almost melancholic with his head resting in her lap despite the clear skies and good weather that greeted the city. And with smooth, soothing strokes, Aulea slowly worked her fingers through his golden-yellow locks, trying her best to calm whatever nerves or agitations he was battling. Because it had been years - not since he was a young boy of twelve and still prone to following her around the Citadel like a tiny little shadow - since Prompto had come to her in such a state. Since he had needed her to chase away the demons under his bed and assure him that the world was still good.
Whatever the reason to break such stubborn barriers of teenage pride, the Queen said nothing and merely remained quietly observant, waiting for the right moment to inquire about his sudden visit. ]
SOFT MOTHER OVO
But by the Six, wasn't this embarrassing? Even now, he hoped he wouldn't be called out for how this was. He was grown up now, strong and tough like his dearest mother. His body was still endomorphic - even if the boy tried to keep himself as thin as he could, to show his muscles. (He wanted them to like him and see him as strong. It was tough, but it was the sunshine boys' life. And he was strong. He'd made sure of that. Honestly, he could lift so many people, even if he was still smaller then most of them.)
Letting his eyes close, Prompto let out a sharp sigh. He didn't seem like he was going to begin the conversation - even as he fussed with his loose wristband, fingers paler then his usual skin. (Loose only because he had come from when he'd been sleeping. They'd all already seen it, but hiding it was... natural.) His soft blue eyes fluttered open again, expression strained. ]
The softest ;~;
Similar to how he was acting now.
And so, with a determined knit of her brows, the young Queen reached across his torso and very firmly gripped at his fidgeting fingers. It was not a harsh or hard hold, but it gave a distinct impression and indication that there would be no dancing around the subject matter. The Guard in her was still a lot more direct than that. ]
Prom. Tell me what happened.
no subject
...I'd never...
[ Damnit. The words seemed to get caught in his throat, as he tried to finish the sentence. There was so much he could add, his gaze turning towards the ground. Letting his hands bundle into fists - the question hurt him more then he let on. ]
I'd never hurt you, right? Or Dad, or Noct.
[ His dreams were so vivid. A hunger filled him, one which seemed to focus on them. Even if the idea of eating humans was really gross, it seemed to appeal in those dreams - devour them all, continue to become stronger and stronger, shed his skin (the last bit, really, was one of the biggest things which spooked him). Before the last one, he'd been able to hide the perverse satisfaction deep inside. The softest of guttural growls came from inside him as he flinched.
He'd tried to suffer alone. And now, he wouldn't be able to hide it - his mother would find out about the strangeness around him. Even as the sounds continued from him, Prompto did speak up a little more, trying not to appear as pathetic as he was sure he did. ]
It's just... bad dreams.
no subject
That he would ask such a question of her in light of his strife over the matter, as well... it was a foreboding feeling that sent shivers down her spine at the thought. ]
No. I don't think you would ever hurt us if you did not wish it.
[ Not intentionally. But Aulea knew better. Sometimes intentions still led down the path towards pain and death. Perhaps Prompto knew that as well, and that was what troubled him.
She moved to resume combing her fingers through his hair, knowing how it used to comfort him when he was smaller and more dependent on her protection. And with it, the Queen tried her best to assure him that she was there when needed. That she cared and loved him deeply.
Maybe, in knowing that, he would be more willing to share whatever secrets he seemed to be keeping. ]
Will you tell me about your dreams?
no subject
But Prompto pulls away a little, from having his hair touched. For under the fluff are tiny little horn nubs. Ones he's scratched at and tried to rip out, before managing to file them down enough to hide. He's spent so long grooming himself lately. Is that... what royals do? Probably.
If Aulea listened, she would be able to hear the softest of cries in between his words. ]
There was... a daemon. A big one, it had gotten past the Wall. [ No, it was him. It was him he was this monster - he wouldn't need to get though anything. ] It was being attacked, but-- nothing could stop it. Every time somebody cut off a head, another came back.
[ His voice drops to a whisper, hoping she wouldn't hear this. Knowing the words would still slip out painfully. Biting his lip enough so that blood dripped out... ]
...I was so hungry.
[ He ate them in that dream. Ripping them apart. Did he have to say more now? If she-- heard that last part, oh gods... he's fucked up. ]

Have a Warrior of Light to do whatever with :D
have trash :B
Perhaps Edmont had raised his bastard son well. After he had passed, Haurchefant had even only considered taking a new shell of one he cared for... for, like, a little while. But even now, he missed not just Naltryd, but everybody. And so, he had decided he would visit her - coming to the Rising Stones.
Or, at least, he wanted to. But he couldn't enter the building, his hands trembling. Charms to prevent his sort? He'd expect it, honestly. From what he's heard from other Ascian - others who've fallen and been destroyed - they needed to ward them off.
But there is a presence outside, a flicker of Light. One which seemed dangerous, that shouldn't be there. And an excess of Aether. He'd kept himself cloaked, but the distortion is quite sense-able to a Monk. ]
no subject
It's one of those usual nights where she wants nothing more to sleep but her mind won't stop buzzing that she feels it. There's something there that shouldn't be. It was the same feeling she'd had during the fight with Nidhogg, when she had almost sunken into despair before she swore she saw him there. He who gave her the final push she needed. A hallucination, she was sure, but tinged with...
Why would it have that near unmistakable feel of Ascian? Why would he? Why is she feeling it again? Naltryd pulls on her armor with practiced ease before slipping down the quiet halls of the Rising Stones. While she doesn't see anything at first, she focuses on the aether, letting it guide her.]
no subject
But as soon as he's lured her off, so that he can appear... there he is, cloaked in white and hiding his face. A second Ascian cloaked in white, his frown visible. His mask was one not seen before - clearly one which had only just decided to make themselves known to everybody.
(Haurchefant knows he should smile. But he's scared. Perhaps he'll be banished? Oh, that'd be interesting. To fall to the hand of one of those he cares for so very deeply.)
When he speaks, however, the voice is familiar - and there is confidence dripping from every single sound. ]
...I've a question for you.
no subject
Then he opens his mouth, and she immediately falters. Naltryd remembers that voice all too well, but there's no way she can be hearing it now, can there?]
Who--
no subject
He can't help but repeat it, the words sounding so... splendid. ]
...A friend.

no subject
...Sorry. I still have things that I need to take care of today.
[An awkward silence to go along with that too. Annnnd if there's no other complaints, she'll be taking that leave now kthnx?]
no subject
And what may these errands be, dear friend, to have not informed me beforehand? I can't have you running into danger.
[ not like before. (at least, thats what he'd say usually.) luckily, his expression hasn't changed. ]
no subject
[Because this is something only she can do. ...No point in letter others worry about it right?]
That's because...
[And also since Haurchefant can't fight anymore...]
--It's fine. I will be back soon.

[ he then says, moving to block the door. and he looks a little upset. ]
