[ Urianger - or, Umbrosa as his documents said - had finally gotten free. Even if he didn't know where the others were... or if they were safe. Blood dripped from his injuries, imperials shooting at him. But either he had fallen deaf, or nobody was shooting at him anymore.
After a few moments, he realised it was the latter. Stumbling to sit, Umbrosa took off the stolen helm to begin to dab at the blood on his head. Damn... he'd survive. Wouldn't he? He didn't seem to notice anybody staring - though some were. A Garlean?! With the third eye and everything? His lips trembling, Umbrosa mumbled a single word. ]

[ hee hee, wait. Serious times. Umbrosa seems to flinch more, trying to move away. But-- ] It hurts... [ he mumbles, and Papalyda suddenly looks so very heartbroken again, stepping back a few steps. ]
Oh no... no no no... s-should I go? Would it matter? I don't wanna temper somebody especially not after not being able to help weird dying male Nerina and all...
no subject
[she grins- ah, but that will have to wait, as she moves to wrap an arm around Umbrosa.] Umbrosa…
[she looks at Papalyda, worried, but- shakes her head.] No- no it's your place, you shouldn't have to do that… Nerina- what- [she shakes her head. no- later.] I don't know- maybe if we focused on something else? Tell us- something about your own friends, maybe. The best of them- something silly. [she doesn't know- but maybe. it's something to try, at least.]

We... were more allies. The hand-picked students of Louisoix, to preserve what history we could of Eorzea. Afte Garlemald struck - after awakening Allag monstrosity with ease - they began to purge history of both Man and Beast.
It took far too long for him to find fitting ones - and I still wonder why he chose us. I... they battled, most often of all of us. I was the one who could be counted on to carry and document all of what we claimed. Thancred would charm Imperials into allowing us into long-forgotten areas, Papalymo would destroy any beasts who'd become feral, and Y'shtola would aid with communication and healing us.
We... had no desire to free Eorzea, for that is not what Sharlayan does. Even so... it felt wrong, to simply let everything be lost. Moenbryda was one of my allies, as well - she could... pass for imperial, and pretend she was one of them. [ He seems to smirk a little to himself. ] Whenever we were captured - before the experiments - she'd come for interrogations. It's when she collared me.
[ papalyda is just standing there with a ??? look behind their tears. But he seems to focus, even as his gaze wavers between the two. ]

She droops a little at the description of allies, though, leaning in to nudge his chin.] But you worked together well… [a little bit of huffing.] Garlemald stayed too good at digging up old secrets, then. Twelve.
[She reaches for his hand- squeezing it gently for a moment.] If I've any guess- because you do what you do as well as you do. We… you needed all all those talents, yes?
…mrm. [she… doesn't quite agree with not wanting to free Eorzea, but- that is what Sharlayn doesn't do, interfere. She flicks her ears up, interested.] So you met her elsewhere! Where? [oho- an ally in Garlemald, sort of. She likes this.] So that'd make it- the fun sort of interrogation, then, am I right?
[…good. That's… well, something. She gestures at Papalyda- sit down, at least! It's the least she could have.]
no subject
Not simply digging them up. The one who experimented on me - he wore the very visage of Lord Amon, the last grand scientist of Allag. Though it may simply be for dramatics, is it not comforting.
[ But he takes her hand, and grips it so very tightly. ] ...We did. If even one-- if I remain here, then it is a burden far too heavy for the others.
...It was fun, just us together. We'd talk and hold each other, much like this. But... she came to us, from lands unknown. An ally cloaked in black, asking to become a student under Louisoix, in exchange for showing him wonders - such as techniques to both create and dispell lesser Primal - Egi, I believed she called them. Moenbryda is but the name she gave herself, for she told me that her kind - Paragon - do not carry names of our realm.
[ ..........Yup he's just admitting she's both Ascian and he has no idea about them. ]
no subject
Lady- no, Lord Amon? But… the Warrior and their companions struck her down, didn't they? [she makes a face.] It's not at all- goes beyond simply trying to emulate Allag.
… So we'll find them. We'll get this sorted out.
[aw- that's cute. She smiles, softly- but it grows a little more concerned as he goes on, and she throws Moenbryda a look. She's hearing that right, isn't she…?] Egi… That was- another thing from Allag- ah, it was Y'mhitra who was looking into that, wasn't she? So she'd studied that… [huh. it's very different to think about- besides the business of being an Ascian…] I don't believe they do, no.
no subject
Papalyda mouths: He said Paragon, yup. We've gotta-- keep an eye on him.
[ But Umbrosa seems so very comfy as he continues to talk, not noticing the mouthing - even as his eyes are so very shaky, and his grip is loosening. ] --I hope Y'mhitra is safe. She remained behind, with so many. Us four do not oft get to return to our homes, for transport is... delicate. But Egi are... Moenbryda spoke of them as the essense of both summoner and summon. A deep connection - even deeper then with a Carbuncle.
[ what no he's not jealous, but he closes his eyes. Why do they seem to be unable to focus? ]
no subject
[she nods, tail flicking, worried. That was more or less what she'd decided to do anyway, but- she's glad.
She curls against him a little more closely, and hums.] If she's still in Sharlayan… unless the Empire decided to try to reach that far, I'm sure she's fine. She's clever, besides, like Y'shtola. [she nuzzles a little at that, and nods] I don't know much of the art, but… you reach a little deeper, I think.
How are you feeling?
no subject
Yes, they're both quite clever. It's why only one of them could come - for they could not risk losing both.
I feel...
[ There's a tense pause in the room, as he rests his head on her. But his next words make Papalyda let out a panicked gasp. ]
...like reclaiming what they took.
[ Not only Papalyda gasps, but Umbrosa seems to shudder a little once he realises what he said. ]
no subject
[she straightens up, tense as well, also waiting. Her tail lashes at those words, and she squeezes Umbrosa's hand. Twelve…
But she won't let anything else happen- not if she can help it. (She promised to help.) So she tries for a bit of a smile, anyway- still mostly looking worried, though.]
Well- we shouldn't let that get back to the homeland; they'd have a thing or two to say. [she leans in, to bump her head against his, closing her eyes. to both of them, really:] We'll make this right. [somehow.]
no subject
This, too, seemed to frighten him. For his very reason for being afraid seemed to slip from not just his mind, but from his lips as well.
It's Papalyda who speaks up, quietly breaking the silence, as Umbrosa still tried to struggle in his own mind, his tail beginning to stroke against T'rhabye in odd patterns. ]
...I don't want followers. You know me, right, Rahbye? It's all a... mistake.
[ Like they are. Umbrosa manages to speak again, his voice still choking and struggling. ] ...Will I be culled, then--?
no subject
She nods, turning to look at Papalyda.]
I know. It's… it shouldn't have happened. [she pauses, for a moment, and sits up, reaching out for her friend.] Come here?
[but she stops- wraps herself around Umbrosa, tight. A primal's followers give them strength- cannot help but- they've done it before. But…] No. We'll find something- there must be some way we can manage it better.
no subject
[ Papalyda nods, though. ] Well, the Company and the Scions both deal with having Bahamut around, so... if we have the Dreadwyrm under control, we can handle a few tempered people. It won't make us too strong.
no subject
They are? Well- that's good news for us, then. [she fluffs Umbrosa's hair, a little.] We'll be fine.
no subject
But we haven't actually... had any tempered people before. The closest was Halone, and he was manipulated and broken though non-Primal means. Sooooo... I think we should keep Umbrosa a secret.
[ Papalyda decides, though, to sit next to her favorite catte in this room - and Umbrosa wraps his tail around both of them. ]
no subject
Halone…? [she hums, and nods.] All right. It might make research a bit harder, but… it could be better that way, too. They won't worry so much.
[she cuddles up to Papalyda immediately, grinning at Umbrosa when he does that, and starts to purr.]
no subject
And, exactly! We don't wanna make our friends worry. Plus, Garleans are still the bad guys, y'know? Twisted and...
Disgusting, without reason. [ Umbrosa says, before covering his mouth a little. He knew that's how he felt, but... he didn't want to say it. Didn't want to hate himself. Were these his thoughts? Or those of a Primal. Just what was this Primal...? ]
no subject
[she nods- then gives Umbrosa a worried look. Saying it straight out doesn't seem so much like him, but…] Hm… well, that's true of that Amon-garbed one, isn't it? Seems fair to be angry.
no subject
[ But Papalyda is trying to be serious here, putting a hand to Umbrosa, which he nuzzles into. This is... serious. She lowers her gaze, before trying to smile. ] Anybody who'd wear clothes like that is evil, anyway. Can you imagine getting into those frilly robes every single day? Clearly evil.
But, I wonder... Umbrosa? Can you tell us more about why you don't like 'em?
[ Umbrosa gives a nervous pause, looking to the Miqo'te. Should he? (Papalyda, for her part, is thinking it'll be different. If he loses his mind, they can remember this.) ]
no subject
[she can do serious, so she settles.] I couldn't imagine.
[and she nods, encouragingly.] Go ahead. We'll keep it just between us- whatever you want.
no subject
But Umbrosa nods, and Papalyda lets him talk, to focus on his words as he looks between the two. ] It was when I was but a child - the Garleans moved towards the territory of Sharlayan where we remained. But instead of war, striking us down... they stole knowledge on Allagan artifacts. It was soon after that news got to us - that this knowledge was used to carve a path though what was once known as the territory of Mor Dhona. Many did die seeking to stop them from invading, but...
They surfaced weapons and towers unknown to Eorzea, and quickly overran it. For many years, Sharlayan moved not to fight the Empire, for no weapons could stand up to the restored Allagan monstrosities - and they had no interest in the motherland, simply warring with Ala Mhigo.
[ a pause, as he rests himself... against t'rhabye. ]
Until, that is, Louisoix chose us four. He called us his Warriors of Light, for we would restore Light by taking what knowledge we could. But those Garleans... much has been lost, to their flames and the deaths of many tribes. It's disgusting.
no subject
[T'rhabye shifts, settling herself a little more comfortably to listen to Umbrosa.] About the same time, then… But they- simply didn't go to Silvertear Falls.
Artefacts of old- devices Eorzea wouldn't have much defence against. So- they knew Sharlayan had that information, and simply wanted that…?
[she wraps her arms around him, rumbling a little.]
To preserve knowledge, in dark times. It's a good aim- especially in the face of that. You were talking to the tribes as well, then?
no subject
Yes - they wanted it, caring not to take our land. From what Louisoix tells me of the time... I was still only young, and shielded from much of it. But they tried to buy passage into the Gubal Library. It was only after they were rejected that they struck. [ his voice quiet, he then whispers - slight horror creeping into his tone. ] I was in the library when they broke the wards.
...It's why Y'shtola came with us. She studied their tongue - her and Papalymo. They were the closest of allies.
no subject
Rightfully so. [she scowls, and nuzzles into his hair.] I'm glad they didn't find you. I'm glad you made it- to here, to us, today.
She did? I wouldn't have expected… but then, she's always liked looking at things from another angle… With Papalymo?
no subject
Papalymo's like the male Pamomo, right? [ Papalyda says, giving a little bit of a soft smile. ] I guess, if there was never a Resistance, then... he'd have to... [ their voice goes quiet. A Yda without a Papalymo? That's tragic.
And then, Umbrosa lays a small kiss on T'rhabye, as he adds: ] You... remind me of Thancred. Both him and I could not speak their tongue, but... he was kind. [ A slight red begins to dance on his cheeks - why he is nervous after they've already made love? ]
