[ There's a slight hiss in his voice, before he shakes his head - and smiles again. This man is one of his. ]
You may. Not all are fertile - you can tell because their shells do not smell as strongly as those which are.

[ ...haurche isn't gonna mention he lays them. But he does shift, moving towards the leafy cover to lift it. ]

[Thancred follows, crouching down to look when the other man pulls back the leaves. To him, they're fascinating, and he has to stop himself from reaching out to touch one.]

No - they're pretty independent after hatching - my first eggs have already hatched. Perhaps you've seen them? Though I've heard them called Unicolts by adventurers.
[ yes, all those unicolt from the vault are his children. its canon now. But with him getting so close - he's pretty defensive. ]
Some of Bahamuts' eggs are here too - they're the darker ones over there!

Really? [he'd seen a few from afar, not up close though.] But who is their mother? Should I be worried about another dragon showing up?

[As for Bahamut's eggs, he's just going to stare at them.]

...Ah. All dragons can lay eggs, actually. It's... strange.

[ He notices the staring, though... ] She leaves them in my protection, so that none are accidentally tempered by the sight of her. Usually, she comes and leaves a batch monthly.

Oh. [For a moment he wondered if the same was true of him. But reproduction wasn't something he was going to focus on now. He glances back at the dark eggs again.]

Interesting. What do they become? Darker unicolts?

Nay, they come out as small Dragonets - though, oddly, with some features of Elezen. I suppose that's why she destroys most of them.

[ A pity, he'd love to take care of them. ]

I suppose that's because she has no connection to Ishgard or a High House...

[They sound cute... for spawn of Bahamut. A creature he never wanted to meet... but apparently was still around.]

I don't know what Bahamut you associate with, but I'm only aware of the elder Primal that destroyed part of Eorzea... Not exactly a dragon who would think of her young... or even have any.

...I don't quite get it, either - who could forget the horrors of Bahamut awakening?
[ He sure couldn't. Creating this cold... ]
But she - this creature called Bahamut - appeared on the beach one day, and my dearest sister adopted her. She's got a bit of a scary look, though - and never seems to talk. I keep an eye out, however - she may still be violent. Perhaps she is simply building up her own horde to fly on Ishgard?

I wouldn't know much. I wasn't there when Dalamud dropped. [He'd been praying in Ul'dah in hopes life would be spared.]

How long until your eggs hatch? [SUBJECT CHANGE GO]

Well, [ he says, grinning, ] they tend to take a few months to warm? So, I've been seeing them hatch around every 2 weeks. Don't worry - they don't bite. But today's one of those days! It's why I brought so much meat - they oft need to eat when first awoken!
[ yes, you arrived just in time to see bloodthirsty baby dragon-horses. ]

[He looks over at Haurchefant, before shifting from a crouch to sitting near the nest. He hadn't expected to actually see any of them hatch. His tail twitches from his interest.]

Now... they won't try to eat me, will they?

I would be more worried for them imprinting on you. They cannot chew though flesh quite yet-–

[ And then, as if on cue, there was a crack in one of the eggs - And Haurchefant went quiet, tail wagging. He did move to grab his blade, however... to shave some small bits of meat off of the corpses he'd cooked.

Within but a few moments, there was a small Unicolt sitting there, still covered in fluid from the egg. Haurche looked from his new dragon friend, to the child, to other eggs. The child, however, seemed to be focused on Thancred. ]

Imprinting? [He forgot that part. Baby animals imprinted on their parents.

He goes to move, but it's too late, as one of the eggs hatches, revealing the small unicolt. It was kind of adorable, and Thancred didn't move, because he didn't want to draw it's attention to him.

This was Haurchefant's child, he really shouldn't be there.]

[ Haurchefant seemed to be pre-occupied, however, with helping others hatch - using his tail to help open the cracks, and laying out meat. He did look back to Thancred, however. Not realising one of these children has already chosen a new master...] Do not worry - tonight, under darkness, they shall be flown to a new home. Adventurers deserve them more then I. And in years, they can fight alongside them, where I cannot.

[Thancred just looks at the little Unicolt as it wanders over and climbs into his lap. He offers it a bit of the meat he'd been given before, then watching as Haurchefant moved into the role of father.]

I'm sure the adventurers appreciate that. Especially those who met you before you were forced to come out here.

[ Haurche looks to the one on his lap - and gives a small chuckle. Aww, that's so cute. ]
They do not know they are from me - but I've heard some seek to find them so much, they will re-go though where they usually slumber over and over.
[ Even if he's heard they re-see what led to his death quite a bit. Illusions and nightmares? He wondered. His eyes gazed to the darker eggs, though - quietly. ]
...It seems hers shall not hatch this time, either. A pity. I wonder if you may have eggs in the future?

Maybe some part of them know? They associate then with you, maybe. [He'd seen a few wandering with a shield with a unicorn on it... He wondered if that was related.

He glanced down at the unicolt nudging his hand for more food, and obliged, handing it another bit of the meat.]

I, ah, don't know. I don't know if any of that.. Area... Has changed.

[ ...Bless his heart, Haurchefant seems to notice this is a little awkward for his new dragon friend. So, he changes the subject. ]
I suppose they would hear my voice no matter what - I was gifted the strength of an Elder Wyrm, after all. It's a little scary, to think I could start a fight like the one Nidhogg brings.
Hm - I wonder if you'd follow my commands once my blood spreads though you?

[He glances up then, realizing just what sort of dragon he was talking with. He'd met a few from Anyx Trine, but no one like him. Though the thought of following his commands made himself shiver... The thought of tempering was not pleasant.]

I would prefer you not try to find out, please.

[And then he pauses to think for a moment.] Forgive me, this is awkward, but... How did you realize all of your changes that come with a form such as this?

[ He blinks. Was it not really... ah. Perhaps he were thinking more like what he'd become. ]

...I'm still learning, [ he eventually said. ] I just had to figure it all out as I became more and more powerful! Though I did make a few mistakes, well... I've become quite splendid.

[ Mistakes like losing dear friends and moving to this cavern home. After a bit, though - of looking from Bahamuts' eggs to the small Unicolt on Thancreds' lap. ]

I told you that you would be under my care, yes? I could help teach you of what I know - mental and bodily!

[He stares at the small creature now curling up to nap against his leg, smiling a bit.]

That would be a great help, Haurchefant. Especially since I haven't learned much besides how to balance with a tail. [And no, he hasn't tried flying yet.]

[ Do not mind his eyes widening. ]
Flying is amazing, though! Splendid! I shall teach you--
Ah. Perhaps I should make a room for you in this mountain, as well? All of my dear horde members - those who stay here - get their own room in case of feeling a little territorial!
[ His thoughts change a lot. But his tail is wagging. ]

[Thancred chuckles. This guy's mind jumps around a lot, and it's kind of fascinating. He means well though, so he can't fault him.]

That would be wonderful. Thank you. [He remains seated though, staying out of the way, one because napping unicolt and two because he feels weird at being part of a 'horde'.]

Well, if I'm to carve an entrance - another room... watch this!
[ He closed his eyes - stepping to the entrance - before seemingly falling out. A glow, however, and there it was. An Elder Dragon, sticking his head into the cave hole. And laughing. ]
