[ It was one of those times where NOAH was still figuring out their way past the Labyrinth of the Ancients, and Nero was still lingering.
Today, though, he had found himself by the side of G'raha, when G'raha was taking a break. Not that Nero had been watching for it, of course not.
With a soft grunt, he flopped down next to him, holding a few of the tomestones that they'd been tasked to decyther. (Nero, honestly, had been asked not to join in this, but. Nero had waited until Rammbroes wasn't paying attention and stolen these ones.) ]
...You're all struggling with these?

...You're all struggling with these?

no subject
… Remind me of your designation.
[he reaches out to tap in response- gods, he's glad Nero's doing that.]
no subject
But the text seems to pause for a moment. ]
That would be Amon-Simulo, Regulus.
no subject
Simulo, then. [he'll just… pass on the Amon reminder. sounds like a bad idea.] Are you… what's the status of the two of you?
no subject
...If you must call me by a shorter name, call me Neo. It's what many of the Allag rebels called me. Disgusting worms.
It seems the glitch is still the dominant program running, but it is currently running diagnostics on the Crystal Tower. It is not running optimally - the Lunar Transmitter is missing.
Meanwhile, there is corruption on my AI and memory chips. It seems to be quite close to breaking - and without those? Well, all this work would be all for nothing.
[ There's a looooong beep from Nerobot. Almost like a sigh! ]
no subject
…ah. Well, we'll- that's useful. [the Lunar Transmitter…? Oh, right. For Dalamud. He grimaces a little.] I don't think that'll be coming back.
Corruption… The taint? [Or- maybe he means Nero, in which case- no. He huffs out, tail flicking.] Well- I'd prefer to keep all of this. So we'll need to look at that…
no subject
Has the rebellion taken out that much? Truly? How disturbing.
...There's always backing me up, of course. I don't know how it will affect the other. For all we know, only I could be backed up and placed in a new body. Leaving this poor innocent man to play around inside this tower.
[ And that's when text appears from his Nero again. The robot who respects him. ]
I've managed to get sight, raha. Who knew that Allag had even created their own spy equipment?
no subject
Hah… Not taken out, exactly, but… It shouldn't happen again. [well, given Dalamud is gone.]
Yes, I'd want to see about that first. I think- mm, it sounds unpleasant. And that's not what I want.
[he's very relieved to see that.]
Sight? Ah- I didn't know, but I'm not surprised. What can you see?
no subject
[ ...Nerobot is hearing all of this, and his sounds seem to be becoming more concerned. Is that what he is? But his concern doesn't come out in his text. Only in his beeps. ]
This is going to sound quite crazy, but I can see all around the tower. I can see you - are those chips me? [ His beeping continues, though - he can't say what he's going for. Does this other him... hear his mind? This is confusing. ]
no subject
[he makes a soft sound, patting the screen.]
All around… it makes sense. To keep an eye on everything… You can? Where from? …well. They're what we had, after… in the Void.
[he hears those beeps- ears picking up, before he starts rumbling in return.]
no subject
[ Okay, that leaves the beeping as another long sound - before one of the lights flickers. Behind G'raha, if he turned, he would see a camera adjusting itself a little. Yup, that's another mechanical bit. ]
no subject
Less than I thought I did, apparently. I need… [he shakes his head- turning to look at that camera, attention caught by the sound.]
no subject
But when G'raha looked back, there was another message. ]
...It has been far too long, according to the timekeeping systems. You will need to be re-educated, Regulus.
no subject
…except it drops off when he looks back. Re-education- he has to hope that wouldn't be as bad as it sounds, but…]
I… well. Certainly there's a lot that I seem to have overlooked, but…
[he doesn't trust an Amon-simulation to be nice about it.]
no subject
...And now it seems the function to call for assistance is non-fuctional. A pity.
[ But that sound the real Nero is making - they sound like a soft whistle, a bit of pride - more flickering happening, as he tries to think quickly. And then, text appears quickly - Nero hoping G'raha can read it before it vanishes. ]
Disconnect me.
no subject
[he's. he's feeling a little alarmed, now. A little bit of sound escapes him- a worried trill. He blinks at the text- managing to just take it in before it vanishes.]
Right. Right…
[He saw a bit- enough to be reasonably sure of what he needs to do. His hands are still shaking as he reaches out- if he disconnects the power source- that should do it, right? And Nero… Well, he said that. G'raha's sure he's thought of something.]
no subject
And then, the beeps return. He did it. Nero takes a moment, before... text appears again, slightly shaky in the sounds it makes. ]
...I really don't like him.
no subject
Neither do I. I hope… it was never in any doubt I'd sooner have you around.
…so this means you're in the Tower proper now?
no subject
...And... I suppose it does. But am I in it, or part of it? I don't know.
no subject
[another hum, and he closes his eyes.] We should work that out, at some point. To know, at least…
no subject
But I'd like to know as well. While this is amazing - and it is - I don't want to become the Tower itself. Simply understand it.
no subject
Mm… It's incredible. To last this long, through Calamities… And still functioning! But- yes, I think that would be better, really. [he would definitely like to see Nero embodied again.]
no subject
And I miss my voice. But I'll call for them - I'm pretty well connected to this system. Cover your ears?
[ Because after a little of showing the message, there's suddenly a loud beep - he's set off an alarm. After all, this is a safe room - Nero, please. Soon, he adds: ]
I like it. It's almost like immortality, in a way - hah, if I didn't know better, I'd say I was made of the same stuff as the Tower.
no subject
Ah? [but he does cover his ears- and good thing, that is loud. Well, it's the easiest way of getting attention, he's sure.]
Mm… It'd be very hard to take you down. [he tilts his head] In your own body, too…?
no subject
[ But he's sort of... behind the alarm sounds, Nero is letting out another purring beep. Congrats, G'raha. You have a purring source of hope for the future. ]
You should have seen how I battled. I'm sure those twins will be willing to share - it was fun, when I wasn't growing more and more tired.
no subject
[they're still loud! but that is nice- getting a little rumbling from him in return.]
Mm, I would've liked to have seen it. I'll ask, when they're awake. [a little grin.] So- better fighting here, then, would you say?
